Painting alla prima the streets of Bruges with British artist Ken Howard helped her understand the Indian miniature paintings she did in London a few weeks before. Always considering new mediums, conceiving her ideas through meticulous and varied studies, A. Broeksmit explores Monet’s garden in the outskirts of Paris with watercolors, but it is in Rome that she decided to take a closer look at Renaissance Masters. ‘I think of myself as a visual adventurer, these experiences could be postcards that I send to myself’ she says, while presenting the diary of her journey. ‘The pictures I create are a time capsule for my memory.’
Returning to New York City with a new, rich and personal aesthetic, A. Broeksmit is about to start the second year of Master of Fine Arts in Painting at the New York Studio School. Today, the launch of her website AllaBroeksmit.com coincide with the final year of her studies, we already know that she is about to shake our senses with her bold and vibrant colors in a distinct body of work in the becoming.
